Will the Real Ellie g Stand Up?

I've said before that sometimes this blog paints me in a light that makes me look like some kind of superhero Mom. Just doing it all.
And the truth is so far from that, it's laughable.
The truth is so far from that....I can't even see that.
And so today I'm coming to you to tell you the truth. And to ask the real Ellie g to STAND UP!

Okay, first. Ellie g is an alias. Most of you know that, and I mention it on my ABOUT ME page. But just in case you don't....let's get it out there. Ellie g is just a nick name. Okay?

So the "real" Ellie g, is just an enigma anyway. I don't ever want anyone to feel "less than" by thinking that things around here move along at some kind of perfect pace.

Wanna meet the REAL Ellie g?

Okay, this is actually what I made a dear friend for her brand new baby girl. And I've been dying to post it, but had to wait until baby came. Now that she's here (and is perfection, by the way) I can introduce you to who I think is the REAL Ellie g. Don't you think her name ought to be Ellie?

It's actually made from a DARLING pattern by Indygo Junction click on the pattern photo to be taken right to the pattern on their website. I purchased my pattern at a shop here locally. But they're fairly easy to find.

This pattern is totally doable...and isn't as hard as it looks from the finished product. I am just a beginning seamstress!! And look at the funky things you can do with materials. I also made one for my nephew. And it was so nice to have something "manly" to give a baby boy.

The only tip I have, is that...if at anytime you think the pattern is telling you to cut off the limbs....IT'S NOT! And you'll have to hand sew them back on. And it will make naughty words come out of your mouth. FAIR WARNING.

Okay, I promised to make a fabric flower tutorial for several sweet followers who asked for one. And I'm so sorry, but your going to have to wait until next week. I had EVERY good intention of making it happen today. But REAL LIFE has reared it's ugly head. Will you be kind and wait until next week?

Can I tell you why?

So tomorrow is my 11th anniversary. I've been married to my cute hubby for eleven whole years! And if you know me....that is a miracle...I'm kind of difficult to live with.

Look how happy we were on that day! And I'm sorry, but can I get a shout out for that dress? I designed it 11 years ago, and those pick-ups in the skirt are SOOOOO in right now. I guess I shouldn't be happy that my dress has gone out, and come back in style. That makes me kind of old. But I prefer to think I was eleven years before my time. You know. Cause I'm cool like that.

Those two silly pants kids had NO idea who the real Ellie g was either. They had no clue what REAL life was gonna bring. And I think it's a dang good thing they didn't. Or they would've walked away pronto!

Here's what REAL LIFE has going on here today:

  • We're supposed to leave in 4 hours for a little getaway for our anniversary.
Instead of doing my promised tutorial, and scheduling one to post tomorrow too....I am waiting for a ba-jillion loads of laundry.
You see, our dryer decided to quit. That's what happens when you hit your 11 year anniversary. All your appliances, that you got when you married, start to poop out.
Well, my handy husband DID get it fixed, without having to buy a new one. But that meant no laundry for a few days. Now I have a BUNCH to do. And I'm supposed to pack us all up for a trip.

  • When the dryer pooped, we had to have someone come look at it. Unfortunately that involved them stepping foot into my laundry room.
I'm sure all your laundry rooms are spotless. So no sweat for you. Well....mine had about an inch of laundry lint gracing EVERY exposed surface. (real life folks) So I spent my time, not blogging, not doing laundry, not playing with my kids, but clearing out the laundry room and scrubbing it. It's clean now. But I still don't have clean clothes.

  • I like rap music. I do. So sue me.
  • My children are playing video games. And before that they were watching TV. They're in pajamas. As much because they have no clean clothes....as it is that they'd probably be in their pajamas anyway.

  • Lunch dishes...are now mingling with breakfast dishes on the table. And last night's dinner dishes are filling the sink. The dishwasher is full of CLEAN dishes.

  • I haven't had lunch. But I'm about to eat ice cream for lunch. Not dessert after lunch. I'm talkin' FOR LUNCH.

  • I watch any show with the Kardashian's in it. It's true. And I think that if they met me they'd adopt me into their family and love me as a sister and a BFF.
  • I've been threatening a migraine for days. And I'm pretty sure drinking a swimming pool full of Diet Coke is going to keep it at bay. (either that....or large banana Slurpees)
  • I haven't washed my hair in 4 days.

So the moral of the story is....

The real Ellie g is human. The real Ellie g is STINKIN' LUCKY to have a husband who puts up with her antics. The real Ellie g will not be posting anything else until next week. And she hopes you're okay with that.

(but seriously...HOW CUTE IS THAT ELEPHANT?)

  2. You're still a little more super mom than me. 2 fix-it men entered my laundry room just this morning...they had to look at my lint. They just did. I'm still willing to bet (having lived with you and all) that your messy laundry room is cleaner than my clean one. Just sayin'. You're super and can't fight it. Sorry.
