Hey, Howdy, Hey!

Just a quick check-in for today. I had a FANTASTIC Valentines Day yesterday, and hope you did too.

Normally, our Valentines Days are pretty mundane around here. We have some traditions that we ALWAYS do. We have our "St. Valentine" come during the night and do a HEART ATTACK to our home. There are about 100 foam hearts that are distributed throughout the house. The bedrooms. The kitchen. Even on the potties. The kids find most of them in the morning, but, St Valentine usually hides a couple.

They were happy to find them in the car this year. (he's a genius!)

Then, on Valentines night, St. Valentine brings everyone some little goodies and leaves them on the doorstep.  Interestingly, he always shows up almost the same time that Daddy gets home from work.  Hmmmm.....one day my kids will catch on to that.  But not yet!  :)

Usually that's the end of the Valentine festivities.  But this year, my husband got a babysitter and took me out to a super fun and fancy Valentine dinner.

Part of living in the mountains, is being able to go and have dinner in the mountains!!!  And dinner, by candlelight, with live music.  Oh man.  The romance was thick in the air!

And I gotta say....something about fancy food makes me giggle like a 4 year old.  (gimme a break on these photos...they're iPhone pics from hubby's camera.  I was SO MAD I didn't bring my real camera)

Look at our salads!  EEK!  Love!

This lobster bisque was divine.  But I squeeled a little when I saw that heart.  How cute is that?

You'll notice that neither the main course, or the dessert were photographed!  Why?  Oh, because I couldn't stop long enough to take pictures.  They were DELICIOUS!

It was a delightful evening.  However, it unfortunately, ended up with the hubs getting a touch of the flu that's been going around our house.  TWICE! (really?  We've done our fair share, stomach flu.  You can go now!!)  Needless to say, the evening ended abruptly.

But I still love that man like crazy.  And I had so much fun going to dinner with an actual Valentine.  Sometimes that still makes me giddy.  I used to DREAM of that when I was younger.  How lucky am I?  I'll answer that, super lucky.  And I know it.

So many of you asked if you could have some "insider" info on who the LOVE NOTES box was for.  Well it has been received by my MOM.  And she loved it!  All the grandkids, kids, and in-laws wrote notes for her and we sent them to be enjoyed on Valentines Day.  They were sweet, and funny and some of them were so stinkin' random, it was AWESOME!  (that's what happens when you quote a 3 year old)

She said she couldn't help but sit and read every last one.  She laughed and cried the evening away.  Which is kind of the best feeling ever.  As we've learned from Steel Magnolias.

And finally, thank you so much for the great responses to my new feature I {heart} U...the school of cool.  I had so much fun spotlighting Jen.  And can't wait to spotlight a few other SUPERSTARS.

Get ready for another brand new Less Cake {more frosting} feature starting this week....

Eek! I'm such a tease!

I'm out! See you tomorrow!

  1. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!. The cute box is mine and I love it. Yes,I did laugh and cry all by myself valentine evening. The comments brought back so many memories and there was love in every note. Seeing what my grandchildren see in me is wonderful and eye-opening. This was so much better than any chocolate or flowers.

  5. Oh...and if I were to write a card for Bab's Valentine Day box it would say this:
Speed walking at the butt crack of dawn. Rain or shine!
Creamed eggs for breakfast after a sleepover.
Amazing mother who has 4 kids and 6 grandkids that adore her! Isn't it obvious?
