Happy Valentines Day
Less Cake {more frosting} Readers!
I hope that you are all having an amazing time with your loved ones and "Valentines" today. We had some pretty fun plans to do today, but alas, stomach flu has come to our house for ROUND 3.... seriously? My poor son has it for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. He told me he'd rather die than throw-up again. Poor thing. So I guess Valentines is gonna be kind of low key for us this year.
In honor of this day of love, I want to introduce you to a new feature here at Less Cake {more frosting}....
It is my new University.
I {heart} U
(I know, sometimes I'm just so clever. Or not.)
At I {heart} U, I get up enough courage to ask my blogging "idols" to answer some fun questions about themselves, their blogging, and their lives.
And I gush all over about how amazing they are.
And then they get an honorary degree. (also known as.....a silly button)
It's kind of a no brainer for me to decide who will be the very first honorary graduate.
Just about a year ago, I discovered the world of "crafting" blogs. Where on EARTH had I been? These were SOOOOO up my alley. And the very first one that really SPOKE to me was Tatertots & Jello.
I stalked her blog for months. And didn't even consider leaving a comment. But one day she posted this rug:
I instinctively had to comment, because seriously....that black and white ribbon and I are BEST friends. I always have one or two rolls of it on hand. And it's the way that my friends identify gifts from me.
So I commented, for the very first time:
"I ADORE that Black and White Ribbon. I have it on hand at all times. I don't think my friends and family would accept a present from me without it being attached somewhere. And every time I "brave" WalMart...I grab a roll. Just in case. It goes with every color, hot pink, turquoise, red, yellow. It's completely versatile. I think I want to BE that black and white ribbon when I grow up.
Was that the longest way EVER to compliment your rug? Oh well. I love it! There."
And much to my surprise, I got a reply from the famous Tatertot Jen. WHAT? When I saw the e-mail in my inbox, I almost died. For one thing, I didn't even know you COULD reply to a comment. Secondly, why would she reply to ME?
Anyway, I'm completely infatuated with Jen and her amazing talents.
If I went through and posted all the things she's made, that I love, we'd be here all day! But mostly, the reason I {HEART} U, Tatertot Jen (that's what my daughter calls her, by the way), is because you are kind, and generous. And so super nice. You are a mega-crafy star. And yet, no one would ever know it. You are a Diva of all things creative, and you don't act like it for one second. I consider you my friend, and I think you are completely amazing!
And that's why I {heart} U
Here's Jen's answers to the I {heart} U, questionaire:
- What would we find in your fridge right now? Not too much that's delicious. I don't like to grocery shop and I don't like to clean out my fridge very often. There are leftovers that need to be thrown out, cheese sticks {I love them}, milk because I have a milk delivery service {which I love}, Diet Coke {can't live without that!}, lunchmeat and about a billion condiments!!
- You're ordering a salad. What kind of dressing? I love salad. My favorite dressing is Kraft Extra Virgin Green Viniagrette dressing. I am obsessed with it. I put it on everything -- salads, sandwiches, pasta. It is yummilicious! If I get a salad at a restaurant, I will either bring a bottle with me or get take out so I can add it on at home.
- Do you ever go back and read your early blog posts? Sometimes. I see them pop up at the bottom of my posts. They remind me of why I started blogging.
- If there were iPods back when you were in High School...what would've been on yours? This is probably going to date me alot, but I was a Duran Duran fanatic. I loved them. I also loved The Smiths, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen. Kind of alternative bands. But I also did love some of the hair bands -- Def Leopard, Bon Jovi.
- You can have any talent, that you don't feel you currently have.....what is it? I wish I could sing. I am not musically talented. at. all.
- What's the best prize you've ever won in a contest? I once won the 5 cent slots while on vacation in Vegas. $300 and it was exciting I tell you! I went home and bought a entryway table with it - LOL!
- If there were a show called "American Blogging Idol" who would you like to see on it? Oh gosh, Pioneer Woman? I would love to meet her someday!
- Which Muppet do you most identify with? I think I would be Kermit. He was always the quiet one.
- If you were an ice cream cone, what flavor would you be? I think I would be Mint Chocolate Chip. The chocolate chip on it but the mint just adds a little something unexpected and fun!
- What is the best concert you've ever been to? I saw Jack Johnson a few years ago and that was nice because it was very laid back out in the open. But I was third row at a Prince concert once and that was an experience!
- Love roller coasters, or puke on them? I LOVE roller coasters! When I was growing up we came to Utah every year on vacation and the highlight was a trip to the amusement park. My favorite was a ride called the "Hammerhead", that spins around and you can lock it upside down throughout the ride. I could never find anyone that loved it as much as I did.
- What's your biggest pet peeve? My kids don't ever remember to change the toilet paper rolls. There is never any toilet paper out at our house unless I do it.
- If you were upset, and decided to "eat your feelings" what would be the go-to food? If I knew I only had a couple days left to live I think I would eat chocolate eclairs, chips and salsa and Diet Coke. Oh, and Cheese-Its. Love those!
- You HAVE to go out today with only one make-up item on. Which one wins? Lip Gloss hands down. Can't live without my L'Oreal Colorjuice Raspberry Smash!
- What's one completely random thing about you that you're willing to share? I cut my finger off when I was 7. Is that random, or gross. A less gross fact, I have terrible eyesight and am afraid to get my eyes lasered.
Congratulations, Jen! You are the very first honorary graduate of Less Cake {more frosting}'s
