Technically, it's still a holiday around here. My husband has the day off. (yay!) And we're headed to a family pool party. That means no projects around here today. Well, that's not exactly true. I have 2 projects....
get a tan, and eat a lot of food.
But, just so you know I love you...
Here's a quick Manic Monday entry:
Here's a quick Manic Monday entry:
I want you to meet my "Craft Tablecloth". It is the ugliest, but most loved member of my family.

This ugly little yuletide buddy came to me via my cute Sister-in-Law. Someone gave it to her for her wedding. (Yep. Not kidding. An ugly, vinyl, Christmas tablecloth. Awesome.) She kept it for a while, 'cause you're not quite sure WHAT to do with it. Then, she finally decided it was time for it to visit the garbage can.
WHOA...WAIT!
I put dibs on it immediately. It is the best crafting buddy a girl can have. I glitter on top of it....and then shake it out over the deck. I Mod Podge on it and don't have to clean up after myself. I paint on it and leave the marks...so I can remember my past projects.
I love that it's borderline hideous. It makes me love it even more. When I'm finished, I fold it up and put it back in my craft closet. Ready for next time.
I think a vinyl tablecloth is completely essential for crafting. Particularly if you don't have a crafting space, and are working in an area where you live. Accidents are bound to happen. And a tablecloth will protect your workspace.
But I think almost as important as the tablecloth....is it's ugliness. I kind of just love working on an ugly Christmas tablecloth. Year round. I smile EVERY time I use it.
Go on a hunt to find your own crafting tablecloth. And if you find a really ugly one...send me a pic. I'd love to see it!
Have a great bonus holiday today!
*****PS....guess what? My little High School Cherry-O game is featured over at Mod Podge Rocks today! I freakin' love that blog. Because, as we all know, Mod Podge totally, actually rocks! YAY! Go over and say hi to Amy. She's got an awesome blog!*****

Well, that tablecloth would make a terrible wedding gift (what was that person thinking?). But, I must admit, I kinda like it. I'm a quilter and wish I had some fabric in that pattern. I'm always looking for strange Christmas fabrics.
ReplyDeletePut on some sunscreen before you go work on that tan. :)
My Mom has an awesomely hideous tablecloth with orange and brown mushrooms and hidden frogs throughout the pattern. It was always on our table when I was a kid. If she still has it-I'm stealing it! I don't craft much as you know but it would make me giggle everytime for sure! Thanks for the idea and I'll send a pic. If I get my hands on it!
ReplyDeletethat's a great idea. I asked my husband to make me a desk, and he purposely left it unfinished (it's MDF) so that I can cut, glue, and paint on it without worrying about messing it up. My desk is so colorful!
