Baby Steps to a VayCay

Today's Manic Monday blog entry reminds me of one of my favorite movies, "What About Bob?". It is a classic.

Like remember the dinner where he asks if the corn is "hand shucked?"
Or the part where Bob and Siggy are jumping on the bed, and Dr. Marvin says that he needs some "Peace and quiet." And then Bob says, "I'll be quiet." And Siggy says "I'll be peace."
Or how Bob carries his fish around his neck?

I could go on for days.

But one of the very best parts is the part where Bob decides to take a vacation. A vacation from his problems. (oh please remember the whole situation when he goes to the answering service to find out where Dr. Marvin is vacationing....)

Anyway, my family and I are planning to be off very soon for a vacation. A vacation from our problems. There is ABSOLUTELY no where that makes my problems go away faster than "The Happiest Place on Earth".

Somehow all my cares seem to melt away, as my nostrils fill up with the delightful smell that dwells in The Pirates of the Caribbean.

I cannot help but smile when I stand in line listening to "Everybody Has a Laughing Place." (knowing that I'm about to plummet down a huge drop and get soaked)

And whenever Peter Pan's shadow says "Off We Go" and darts around the corner, I know that everything is right with the world.

The only obstacle to getting to this place of complete bliss.....

Is getting there in the first place.

Mostly planning, and packing. So I know that this week will need to be planned well, and filled with laundry, and shopping, and packing. I need to remember tickets, and reservation information, and camera chargers. And it always seems that all trips rely on Mom to bring every single thing a person MIGHT need. A lot of pressure.

You know me and the infamous "To Do" list. I love them, and they love me. And I love them even more when they're both cute, and have little places for check marks.

So I thought I'd share my vacation "TO DO" list today. Print it out, and put all your little tasks on there. And you too can head toward a happy and safe vacation....knowing that you've covered all your bases.

Baby steps to the vacation....baby steps to the car....baby steps to California.....

DON'T FORGET THAT MY HALLOWEEN PROJECT GOES UP AT EIGHTEEN25 TOMORROW....REMEMBER HOW I SAID I'D REMIND YOU.....CONSIDER YOURSELF REMINDED.....

  1. The "I'll be peace" line was ALWAYS one of my favorite and when Bob pretends he is throwing up and then says, "False alarm" And one of my favorites is "I'M SAILING!" haha Good luck on your vacation. We are leaving this week too and we are gonna be gone for 2 whole months and I have a to-do list like two feet long! haha

  2. cute list...the last thing on my to-do list would be to make a cute to-do list. So that's why we have you to do it for us!

So happy that you are getting away to your paradise. My vacation from my problems would be a beach. Or lake winnipisaki (sp?)...just get me close to the water. But enjoy Disneyland and think of me when you go on space mountain (my fav). I'll be working and very jealous of you all.

  3. I know exactly how you feel about the Happiest Place on Earth being your vacation! We just returned from 9 fantabulous days at Disney World, and we are now seriously considering DVC and heading back as soon as possible. It is just so magical, and to feel like a kid again with my own children is the best feeling ever! Have a great vacation!
