I get asked A LOT how I do the blog, crafting, being a mom, and keeping our house clean. And I have to be honest.
Really honest.
I don't do them all. WELL.
And the house is usually the one that suffers. I have friends with homes where I would eat my lunch off their bathroom floor. And my Mother was always like that. That's not me...so much. I don't think our house is ever gross, but it's not quite that clean.
It's advice that I got from my Mom when I had my first child that helps me. I was a new Mom, and completely overwhelmed with how my Laundry had EXPLODED! And how I was exhausted. And how I felt swallowed by responsibilities.
She told me that stay-at-home Mom's have the best thing in the world. Complete freedom. Freedom to choose when to do their jobs. And when the deadlines should be. She just suggested that there BE deadlines. Just like any other job.
And then she, so wisely, told me that I'd feel a great sense of freedom when my deadline had been met. Then I'm off the hook!
It all boiled down to determining my jobs, and placing a few on each day. Then sticking with that schedule every week. Not the nit-picky jobs. The big, necessary ones.
This schedule makes it so I have time to do all the other things. If my job is done...then I'm in charge after that.
You've probably noticed that I'm a gal who likes things posted. I love lists. I like lists that stay out in the open. I need to stare at my responsibilities. So I have my schedule posted on my fridge.
I realize that you might not be able to use my schedule. But I thought I'd give you a copy, just in case you can use it. (oh, and I kind of require them to look good too. Is that wrong?)

**You should be able to just click on the graphics, download, and print. I have mine cut out and posted together, banner style. Please don't sell them. And if you share them on the internet....make sure that it's linked back. Thanks!**I love laundry on Monday...and it often leaks into Tuesday too. (but Tuesday can be kind of a freebie, so that usually works out.) I also always do bathrooms on Friday, just in case unexpected guests want to pee in a "ring-free" toilet. THE NERVE!
I hope you got all your jobs done today. I just finished the laundry! And even though I'm tired....no laundry 'till next Monday! YAY!
You are so cute! I love your lists. My house is always suffering. It comes last much of the time. I did get the whole thing vacuumed today though and was patting myself on the back all day long. I will print those off and see if I can stick to a schedule!

I do the laundry on Monday too. And occasionally it spills over into Tuesday. Mainly just the folding and putting away. I looove doing the laundr only once a week! It makes the rest of the week so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI love that you clean each day by rooms. I've been trying to learn to do that. When I worked outside the home I had to use one of my days off for laundry and the other to clean my entire house. Now that I'm home I expected to be able to do it the same way. Odd as it may be it doesn't happen. I don't know if it is the fact that there are 2 kids instead of 1 or the fact that we are there more often and actually "living" in our house. Either way, I've had to change my routine a bit. Change stinks! Sometimes.
I love it! Who wouldn't love a 'chore' list when it looks so sassy??
ReplyDeleteI plan on sharing it today on the blog (givin' you all kinds of props) :)
Oh heck yes! I LOVE this! Thanks for the awesome list options, if you swing by my post today...you will see why I desperatly needed this form of order!
ReplyDeleteI love this. It makes starting your chores a little easy looking at something so creative. TFS!
ReplyDeleteGreat info, great debate. I tried going back to work after having my daughter and it was hell! Pleasing my boss, pleasing my baby, rushing around all the time, always being 50% instead of 100%. I was raised by a stay-at-home mom who later became a working mom when I was 10 so I got the benefits of seeing both ways. What is best for the family is the best way and the great part about that is what's best for the family can change through the years. Flexibility is best no matter what.
ReplyDeleteLove this. I also love what your mom told you. What great adivce. I need that! Thanks tons!
ReplyDeleteI love lists too. I popped over from Staci's blog to say hi. Love your place here. So cute.

You must be reading my mom... Just left the education field to be a SAHM of two little ones and OMG all I do is clean and look for things! I think this plan will help me relax, lets some things go and still get the big things done!
