When I'm Feeling sad......

You know that part in Sound of Music.....that one during the thunderstorm, when Julie Andrews (Maria) is soothing the children's fears by singing about all her favorite things?  And then she so boldly states that, "when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad.....I simply think of my favorite things, and THEN I DON'T FEEL SO BAD!"  Being deathly afraid of thunderstorms, I have always held Miss Julie in the highest of esteem.  She sings to me quietly whenever I'm afraid.
(I also love the "Whistle a Happy Tune" song from the King and I.  But I can't whistle.  So that never really works for me.)

It's not that I'm feeling "bad" in particular.  It's mostly that thinking about my "favorite things" makes me uber happy.  Like, super happy.  And since I've been showing off some "things that I love" this week, I thought I'd just keep sharing....

If I were to sing that song, it wouldn't be much like the original. Instead of raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, it would go more like:

Mickey, and music, and Diet Coke that's slushie.

Sewing and frosting and grapes that aren't mushy.

Black & White anything, and showtunes to sing.

These are a few of my favorite things.

Neil Diamond, Kenny, and Glee on the TV,

Mod Podge, and Polka Dots, and anything Disney.

Blogging and treats and some earrings with bling.

If you'd just go ahead and sing through that....I'll wait.....

Wanna meet my latest thing that makes me do a happy dance?   Meet houndstooth Mickey. 

Isn't he the sweetest? Isn't he the chic-est? Isn't he the most black & whit-ee-est thing you've ever seen?

I saw him on our very first day in Downtown Disney. I knew immediately that he would be coming home with me to be my BFF.  We are forever.

A while back, I did a post to show you some of my other favorites.  My favorite blogs and bloggers.  And I got to thinking it was time for a new one, because I've found even more yummy goodness to share.

I thought I might try to get the blogs to fit into my song lyrics.  But it's a no go.  I'm not a wizard!
You'll just have to accept them in list form.

So, in no particular order, (and understanding that my original list still stands.  They are still amazing, and this is just in addition to all those gals....who still rock it!)  Here's some of my latest faves:

I Am Momma Hear Me Roar

Cheri is amazing!  And was last season's overall winner of SYTYC.  She is beyond amazing.  She is creative, and trendy, and cool, and SUPER NICE!  I love getting a little comment from Cheri.  We are both trying to have better lunches and not eat dino nuggets.  I gotta admit....no dino nuggets here.  But I had to skip lunch a couple of days to avoid them.  (just kidding, I was just too lazy to make something)  Cheri is also an accomplished musician.  Her music is lovely.  And one day we're gonna meet and sing a duet together.  Okay, I admit....I haven't run that one past her.....now I'm a stalker.

House of Smith's

I love visiting Shelley at her house.  Okay, not her actual house....but her web house.  She is GREAT!  She has flawless taste, and you're gonna love reading her posts, because she is funny.  Hilarious.  And she uses the strikeout feature better than anyone I know.  (you know, to cross out what she is really thinking and replacing it with what she should be thinking.)  She has a really successful and awesome vinyl business called "Wonderfully Wordy".  If you are looking for vinyl stuff...that's a great place to head.  You'll be jealous of Shelley's house.  So if you can't get over jealousy....you might not be able to stay long...

Kate Landers LLC

Kate Landers is a party planning extraordinaire. She is perfection personified.  But she doesn't act better than those of us who have to stay up all night making our own decorations.  Far from it.  Kate is one of those awesome people who aren't threatened by championing other people and their accomplishments.  I actually first loved her through a blog she has called Stylish Children's Parties.  It is a blog devoted to "real" parties for kids.  I was in love immediately because each one of them is amazing.  But as I decided to submit my own party, and became a "Kate Fan" on FB....I soon realized that this is just Kate's MO.  To talk to people, get their opinions, and to show off other people.  She's also about the most gracious person EVER.  If you want to drool over amazingness....even if you can't buy it.....Check out Kate's blogs.  You'll have a great time there.

WhipperBerry

Okay, this one's really new to me. But I swear there is not ONE SINGLE post on there that I think "eh, that's alright". They are all TO-DIE-FOR! There's a couple contributors here. And I haven't had the chance to really get to know them yet, (although I got a lovely comment reply from Heather) but I'm giving an ALL HAIL shout out....'cause I'm pretty much green with envy over the talent oozing from this blog.

Litle Miss Momma

This one is newer to me too...although I think that's because I was slow figuring out it's AWESOMENESS! Ashley has a great way of writing. And her recent series on blogging is great for those of us who are just starting out. She also has a crazy awesome Etsy Shop that you could spend days looking at. This black ring wants to be mine. It really does.


So that's a few of my favorite things. (certainly not all of them.....there's definitely more to share another day) I like to think about them "when I'm feeling sad."

I also like to pull out some awesome music and have a shower concert. But I doubt you'd want to be a part of that. And if you did....I'd keep it to yourself, because that's weird.
