Glittery Goodness

First off WOW!

You guys SERIOUSLY like some Buddy the Elf. I have now sent out OVER 250 Buddy the Elf poster files to you cute readers. Wow. I kinda had no idea it would be that popular. I thought maybe 20 or so of you would enjoy a Buddy poster for your home. But 250? Wow. I can barely keep up!

But I've had SO much fun reading about your favorite movies and quotes.  And have had such funny, and heartwarming responses.  It's what this season is all about.  So thank you for taking the time to respond.

If you requested a poster, and didn't get one, it may be because I don't have your e-mail address. A handful of people left me their favorite movies...but no e-mail. And at first I tried to track down some e-mails, but I just can't do it with this many requests. So, don't be shy, ask again and leave me your e-mail.

I may have to put a cut off date on the printable, just to keep my sanity. But we'll see if it's popularity dies down.

I think a few of you came over to get the poster....and I hope some of you will hang around.  I love to have new visitors!  So if you're new.....welcome!

Now, on to another Christmas project that I'm SURE isn't going to get 200 comments. But that's okay.

I was really inspired to do this project by the girls at eighteen25. They always do really cool stuff with graphic papers and glittery elements on top. I've been hatching this idea since October.

  • I started with some 4" styrofoam balls.  I bought the smooth styrofoam, because I thought it would glitter smoother.  It is, however, way harder to cut.  You make the call.
  • I also got some deep frames from IKEA.  You could also just use a frame with no glass.  But I kind of love the 3-D effect under glass.
  • I covered the inside of the frame with some really graphic scrapbook papers. (hobby lobby)

  • Cut the balls so that they will fit in your frame.  (do this BEFORE glittering them!!...how would I know that?  Take a guess!)
  • When they're cut, use some course sandpaper to make sure that the back is even.  This is also a great way to wear them down if they're too tall.
  • Cover the ball in a nice thick coat of the Podge, and glitter away.  I found it way easier to stick a toothpick in the back to manipulate the ball.

  • While that's drying, get your material for your "ball topper".  I used some heavy silver cardstock that I had on hand.  But don't worry if you don't have that.  I think you could try aluminum foil, or just silver sharpie a piece of paper.  Use your imagination.  I promise once it's in there you won't even notice.
  • Fold a strip about 1 1/4" wide and maybe 3ish inches long.  Fold as shown.

  • Hot glue the styrofoam ball onto your backing paper, along with your folded topper.  They should look about like this.

  • Then take a piece of wire and form it into a "U" shape.
  • Hot glue that inside your silver topper piece.

They were so much fun to make, and are hanging like 3 little Christmas Musketeers in my living room. Think what fun you could have making some too!

IN OTHER NEWS:
have you seen Wonderfully Wordy's deal today on GROOPDEALZ? Such a fun idea.

Only $4 gets you the vinyl to complete this darling project. She got the plate from WalMart for about another $4. So for under $10 you could check a gift off your giving list. Heck, order a couple and keep checking away.....CHECK IT OUT!
