My 'lil blog didn't even start until almost 1/2 way through the year. So I didn't know if a "top 10" was even warranted!
THIS POST: If Everybody Had an Ocean was definitely the most popular.
Which is okay by me. Because it was the MOST time consuming as well. And definitely the most stressful!
This whole blogging thing was an idea that I had right around this time last year. I was falling in love with a few blogs....and finding new ones to love left and right.
And there was a little voice in my head: (not the normal crazy voice that talks....although he's nice too) but a voice that said, "Hey, you should give that a go."
It took a few months for me to listen.
What a fun adventure it's been so far!!
For 2011 I'm definitely into making some New Years resolutions.
I know a lot of people don't believe in them. But I like them. Especially since I usually narrow it down to just 3.
My personal resolutions are:
- 1. Use a calendar program to keep track of planning and chores, and menus. Hopefully becoming better organized with my time.
- 2. Focus on regular weekly exercise. (especially since blogging isn't the most active endevor.)
- 3. Realize that I CAN'T DO EVERYTHING and thoughtfully say "NO" to things that I'm not able to truly commit to.
Last year one of my resolutions was to be more positive. Another one was to keep up on housework.
Hmmmm......
Not so much, on either of those fronts. But it is a new year.
I'd also like to make some "blogging" resolutions.
More, just to make sure that the blog is heading in a direction that I'm proud of. And that reflects both things that I want to do, and that at least a few people want to read.
So...........
I am going to focus more on trying to show you all the talent that there is in the blog world. So you can feel as inspired as I do by the amazing blogs that there are. (it's almost overwhelming)
- I'm "sharing" some of my favorite ideas over on my FACEBOOK page every day. So if you're not hanging out over there with us......head over!
- I'm also going to start up a new feature where we get to know other bloggers and their blogs. That should be super fun.
- Some of the old features could be back. "Wired Wednesday" and "Manic Monday" and maybe a new one or two as well.
So let's all start off the NEW YEAR with a fresh outlook and a willingness to look at new ideas.
Know how I love to look at my WHOLE YEAR?
I always have a "Year-at-a-Glance" calendar on my fridge. Not to write on, just to be able to look out a few months.
So when a friend calls me on the phone and says, "what do you think about going on a Cruise in March?"
I am able to make a quick glance and say "Heck yeah! I'm free that whole month. Will you be paying for that sweetie?"
(anyone who'd like to offer that, by the way.....feel free)
I like to use this size. It will print out on a regular sheet of paper.
I also like to cut it down the middle and paste the two back to front. So it's just a 1/2 year on each side.
And speaking of printables......and we were......
Whaddya think of those?
Whaddya think of featured bloggers? And recipes? And craftiness? And general mentioning of Diet Coke, and/or Neil Diamond?
I will be happy to entertain
any and all suggestions for
Less Cake {more frosting}'s
New Year.
I will not, however, tolerate comments about:my grammar, gratuitous use of periods................,general personal body odor, the state of my pedicure, the ring in my toilet, the amount of Wendy's Dollar Menu food consumed on the premises,
Pretty much, don't say rude things.
If it's not constructive,
fairly nice,
and/or about your love for Disney Live-Action movies and their fantastic actors.
(Hayley Mills? Awesome!)
Then don't say it.
If you have great ideas.
Something you'd like to see more of.
Super great suggestions.
You want to be featured here on LESS CAKE {MORE FROSTING}
Or you'd like to share how Frosting consumption has, indeed, affected your life positively.....
Leave those lovely thoughts in the comments section! Or if you're too shy to leave one there, you can always e-mail your genius suggestions to me: elle.ee.gee{at}gmail{dot}com
Hope you are all having a great New Year so far. I've got some fun new creative {not crafts} projects, and some yummy Super Bowl type treats, and a ton of other nonsense coming up.
Thank you SOOOO much for reading, commenting, NOT crafting, and following along. It means the world to me!
Hear from you soon!
That bedroom is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!!!! Wow! I can't wait to see what you bring to the table in 2011. It is sure to be spectacular :)
ReplyDeleteL, I am so glad you posted about the room makeover. I hadn't seen it before....
ReplyDeleteAnd, I am loving that we've been blogging for about the same amount of time. I always feel like everyone else has been blogging forever!
Can't wait to see what you have in store in 2011.
Your printables are amazing. Seriously, they're the cutest around by far. I sure wouldn't mind if you kept a few of those coming in 2011 ;) P.S. Your blog is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI already think you're perfect in every way. and now i'll remove my lips from you booty and say any mention of diet coke is a good reminder that I need one and you can keep that. recipes? yes please - healthy AND easy ones, ok? I need major help with cooking, and if you're willing to help with that, maybe i'll call you and ask you about a cruise in march that i'm paying for. ok just kidding.
ReplyDeletewait..you've only been blogging for how long??
ReplyDeleteYou are a ROCKSTAR!
Nice resolutions! Can't wait to see what you come up with this year!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ms. Curdy. More recipes, healthy ones, heart-healthy ones for the hubs. And some of those great Lara inspired organizational tips. I could definitely use those.
Thanks for the calendar printable! I have a little piece of Ellie G going up in my house. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you keep doing Manic Mondays, but honestly-- just keep on rockin'! You're one of my favorite reads and I love that your posts seem so human and funny and not constantly "blog-perfect" all the time! Keep the awesomeness coming! :)
ReplyDeleteI like you Ellie G. You're a fun gal!
ReplyDeleteOh EllieG, I just returned from a week at Disneyworld with my fam. One day, while at Disney's Hollywood Studios, we went to Starring Rolls Bakery and picked up a couple of ginormous cupcakes. I'd read about the legendary Butterfinger Cupcake, so I naturally had to pick one of those up. Think of a Costco-sized cupcake, with a ganache center, topped with a mountain of frosting as tall as the cupcake. Then dipped in chocolate and covered with crushed butterfingers. I wanted it to be so delicious, but I have to say, it was just - okay. I got a photo of it, though, and it looks glorious.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm really sad I didn't get a photo of the second cupcake we got (we got them to go, and this one didn't fare so well - two paper plates and a sack don't make for the best cupcake transportation). This one was a red velvet cupcake. Topped with a mountain of cheesecake frosting, and chopped Heath bars. Oh. My. Goodness.
We ate it for breakfast yesterday, our last day in Florida before jetting off last night to the cold Idaho winter, and it was probably one of the most delicious things we had while we were there.
I know you'd appreciate such splendor! Just writing about it makes me salivate.
So - enjoy more frosting! I just did :)
Hey Ellie,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know I love your site! I especially like your yummy treats and printables! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to spending my "reader time" with you!
