You know, a little nugget of information that makes you think....
"WOW! I never thought of that before!"
Like:
Keep a magnet by your sewing machine, and run it over the floor after sewing to pick up any dropped pins or needles.
Or.
Add a piece of soft bread to a container of HARDENED brown sugar...and the sugar will magically be soft again.
Or.
Spray your measuring cups with a non-stick spray before measuring peanut butter or honey or Karo Syrup. It will prevent sticking!
Or, my husband's contribution:
To get Heinz ketchup out of a glass bottle (usually at a restaurant) turn it upside down and hit the "57" on the bottle with the palm of your hand. (he's right! This works!)
Love those tips!
But this is a different type of "tip". A "Q-Tip".
First off, I think Q-Tip is a brand. Like "Scotch" tape. Or Kleenex. But seriously...who calls it "transparent tape"?
I had a baby shower to go to a couple weeks ago. And I wanted to give something fun, and easy, and useable. (and if "inexpensive" is worked in there somewhere....all the better)
Look how easily Q-Tips became my shower gift....
I've started keeping a couple of these type jars on hand for gifts. This q-Tip one would work for a girlfriend as well. But, you can fill them with lots of stuff.
I have this little vinyl decoration on hand as well.
Here's a tip:
- If you have a small vinyl wording or grouping that you think you might use in the near future, print it out a couple times and have it on hand. It also helps cut down on vinyl waste.
For the decoration: I made a quick ruffle flower, and hot glued it to the top of the jar. Then I lifted up the edges, and glued some pom-poms as well.
And for a bigger present you can pair it with the diaper and wipes band. They are so super cute together!
(you can find a detailed tutorial for the wipes band HERE)
It's fun to have them match the nursery, so you could find out colors in advance. You could also just make some fun combos up and have them on hand.
Thanks for hanging around! And if you have any fantastic random TIPS...share them in the comments. I'd love to share them in the future!
- The finished bands are SO easy to store. Just take a couple hours one day and do a few to have "just in case"

When we travel (or go camping), I always end up cooking for everyone and I love to take my own knives. I use the cardboard tube core from a roll of paper towels to safely transport my knives. Just flatten the tube, then slip your knife inside. You can use Toilet Paper tubes for paring knives, also. I just noticed all the cute colored and patterned duct tape at the craft store the other day, and I think I'll decorate my "knife tubes" next time, using some cute tape! With the added stability from the duct tape, I'll be able to re-use them longer as well! Happy Friday!

Cascade powder dish detergent (I've only tried the lemon kind) Is AWESOME at getting stains out of clothes. I was able to get red wood stain out of my husbands jeans (before they had been through the wash). It works wonders on baby blow outs as well...gross but true!
ReplyDeletecute, cute, cute!!
ReplyDeletegreat tips... wish i had something to share... but i got nothin right now. :)

ya- I've got nothing either. Love the simple but thoughtful gifts. And I really like the idea of having some gifts stashed away. If only I wasn't such a procrastinator! Maybe I'll do it...tomorrow. ;)

My tip for tonight is to chew gum while you're chopping onions if you get a bit emotional while you're chopping. (my eyes water like a fountain!). Somehow it stops the tears! :)
Also if I'm baking and using something that sticks to the measuring cups or spoons, instead of spraying with oil, I just wet them - works just as well!
Love this idea!!! My SIL is expecting and it would be so fun to make her a coordinating set to match the nursery. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved it so much I made one myself. You can see it here:
