What's Up Doc?-Simple Spring Frame

As much as I adore super crazy, intense project making.....

Sometimes I just want a super simple decor answer.

Partly because I tend to be a tiny bit lazy.
And partly because I also actually have a pretty MODERN design aesthetic.  And modern is typically very minimal.

It would also be prudent at this point in time to admit that I'm not a huge fan of wreaths.
I've mentioned that fact before, but just in case you missed it.  I don't love wreaths.

So sue me.

It's not that I can't appreciate an amazing wreath.  Or even that if I found one that I loved, that I would be opposed to hanging it.  Because I wouldn't be.

But in general, I'm not usually a fan.

So what to do?  What to do?

I really wanted something to cover up my hideous front door during this spring season.
(again.  A repeating theme.  I REALLY, REALLY hate our front door.  And I lay awake at night thinking of how I can fix it.)

The other day, while shopping with one of my favorite friends, I found this AH-MAZ-ING rectangular frame.  I LOVE it.  (it was only $10 at a local home decor store - Tai Pan....it's awesome, if you're close to one!)  It would look amazing spray-painted.  And it definitely might be meeting a bottle of yellow or raspberry spray paint in it's future.

But I decided that it would make my front door super happy.  Totally NOT a wreath.

I also found this cute carrot at the same store.  I didn't love the raffia-ish top that it came with.  So I snipped it off, and made a super quick green pom-pom to replace it.

(I didn't really take pics of making the pom-pom.  I just googled a tutorial and followed it.  It was SOOOO easy.  I think I for sure will make some in the near future.  And I promise to do a tutorial on them when I do.)

Add  little thick ric rac.
Tack it to the back of the frame.
Get out my frame hanger....
And.....

TAH-DAH!!!

I could have taken the photo on a pretty door.  So you would ooh-and-ahh over it.  But I thought.

"Nope. THIS is where it's gonna hang.  So here it is."

It is simple, graphic, very springy.  And kind of looks like a way to entice the Easter Bunny to bring me TREATS!

C'Mon little bunny, I have a fake, stuffed carrot for 'ya..........

Start to finish.....WITH making the pom-pom.....
20 minutes.  Tops.

And I'm pretty sure it could be used in LOTS of ways for different holidays.  Yay!!

  5. Love it! I know what you mean about wreaths. I will use them, but I'm quite picky. I, too, hated my front door. That's why I painted it turquoise.

  9. Cute! Love the carrot! And, I'm really hoping you paint your new frame a yummy raspberry color - how cool would that be??

And, I'm wondering what you don't like about your front door?

Maybe you need to throw the question out to your readership - kinda like a "how would you fix my dilemma" type of thing...??

  12. I absolutely love it! I have a question, how is the frame attached to the door? Just like you would a wreath? Because I have had something bigger on my front door (a wooden frame) and every time you shut the door it would bang against the door. Do you have that problem or is it attached a better way? And if you have a better way please share! Thanks!!
